Zurich, Switzerland and Gauting, Germany, November 26, 2012 – IMA®, one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession, and Controller Akademie, a leading training institute in Europe’s German-speaking countries, announced today a partnership to deliver live-instruction courses in Germany to prepare accounting and finance professionals for IMA’s CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) exam.
Controller Akademie will serve as an authorized CMA Review Course Provider. The partnership will enable Controller Akademie’s course participants undertaking their prestigious 5-step Controller Program to also earn IMA’s globally recognized CMA credential. The CMA is an advanced-level certification for accounting and financial professionals in business, covering financial planning, performance and control, and financial decision making. Added to the Controller Akademie’s 5 –stage training program, the CMA will serve as an excellent capstone examination to prove participants’ controllership and management accounting competency. The partnership combines Controller Akademie’s reputation and expertise in the German-speaking countries, with IMA’s global leadership in education, ethics, and excellence in management accounting.
“I am pleased to announce this ground-breaking partnership during IMA’s celebration of the CMA exam’s 40th anniversary year. The Controller Akademie also brings over 40 years of experience and the partnership is a culmination of the informal relationship that IMA and Dipl. –Kfm. Dr. Dr. h.c. Albrecht Deyhle, founder of the International Controller Verein (ICV) association and the Controller Akademie, have enjoyed throughout the years,” said Nina Michels-Kim, CMA, IMA director of European operations. “The partnership will enable greater awareness and adoption of the CMA certification program in the German speaking countries and around Europe.”
Beginning in April 2013, Controller Akademie will offer a two-day CMA exam tutorial add-on to its course participants and encourage graduates of its 5-step controlling program to study and sit for the CMA exam. The 5-stage program already contains a significant portion of the CMA’s body of knowledge and their participants should only need instruction on the topics that are not emphasized in its program. Therefore, the Controller Akademie course participants should be able to prepare largely by self-study, using the 2013 Wiley CMA Learning System (CMA LS) and afterwards by attending Controller Akademie’s unique two-day in-person tutorial on April 29-30, 2013, before sitting for the exam during the May-June 2013 testing window.
“Our flagship program, Controlling and the Controller seminar Stage I, has been conducted more than 1,000 times as a public seminar and in-house training to date, with over 50,000 participants. It makes sense for our course participants to capitalize on that advanced training and obtain a global certification at the same time," said Dietmar Pascher, Partner and Trainer, and Manager of International Programs at the Controller Akademie.
