IMA IFRS Series: Embracing IFRS: A Background Primer
This is a two part course that explores the background and positions that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) have regarding International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), presents the benefits and challenges surrounding America’s adoption of IFRS, and examines the important implications to the management accounting field and financial teams such as training and education, consistency of application and uniformity of audit standards.

Part One: Perspectives on IFRS in America
This course explores the challenges faced by the SEC requiring US companies to embrace these standards. Explore these challenges and also read an interview with Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of IFSB.

Part Two: The SEC and IFRS
This course discusses some major issues surrounding the SEC and its role regarding the adoption of IFRS in the U.S. As the IASB and FASB continue toward convergence of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, differing opinions exist between these groups and the SEC regarding how and when convergence or adoption will occur.
