IMA helps support the future of the profession by providing student scholarships and recognizing excellence through various awards.
These scholarship and award opportunities are available exclusively to IMA Student members. As vital members of the IMA community, students and their chapters are eligible for various scholarships and awards, described below.
Scholarships and Grant Programs
IMA sponsors a variety of scholarship programs to help students offset the high cost of education. These include:
- IMA Memorial Education Fund andStuart Cameron and Margaret McLeod Memorial Scholarships
- Rolf S. Jaehnigen Family Scholarship
- IMA's Research Foundation offers a research grant program for doctoral students who are pursuing research in accounting.
IMA Student Case Competition
Teams of students respond to a case (published in Strategic Finance) by preparing and submitting a videotaped presentation to judges selected from IMA members. This very exciting competition presents students with real-life challenges and the opportunity to:
- analyze a case
- develop a solution
- present it to an audience
- receive recognition for their efforts
The case study is published each year in the August issue of Strategic Finance.

Student Manuscript Award
This program provides any Student member with an opportunity to share his/her IMA student membership experiences. Winners are recognized each year at the IMA Annual Conference & Exposition. Submissions must be postmarked by March 15 for credit in current year's competition.

Clark Johnson Achievement Award
This award is presented each year at IMA's Annual Conference & Exposition to an active IMA student chapter that demonstrates innovative achievement in meeting the needs of IMA Professional and Student members.
